As some of you might know Chris, Abriel and I will be moving to Sousa in the Dominican Republic for 5 months starting September 2011. If you didn't know this..... SURPRISE!! We have talked about doing an extended stay in the DR (Dominican Republic) since we starting doing week long relief trips in 2007. Finally we have reached up enough courage to just go and do it. We truly feel like God is calling us to take this step and go. We have been going to the DR for the last 3 years serving with a charity called
"Servants Heart Ministries". When we have gone in the past and when we go for annual trip this year (May 14th - 21st, 2011) we stay on a resort and it's only a week. Going in September will be a little different since we will have to find some where to live, it will be for 5 months, and we will have a 6 month old. You might call us crazy but we like to think "brave"..... haha. In May we will be leading a team from Community Church in Waterdown. We will be visiting an orphanage, building a shed for a sponsorship school, visiting some villages, and playing with children. We are super excited for this upcoming trip and are kind of calling it our trial run for this September. When we are in the DR it truly feels like home and we love the people there. We have created this blog to keep friends, family and whoever else wants to know about our adventures in touch. We are going to try and post pictures, videos and stories of our experiences. We know these upcoming trips will have their challenges, dangers and frustrations but we are also looking forward to meeting new people, serving and growing in our faith.
